Emily Kirkpatrick is a writer and cultural critic who Glamour once called a “fashion soothsayer.”

She is the creator of I <3 Mess, a weekly newsletter that rounds up the best of the worst celebrity fashion. The newsletter has been featured in the New York Times, Dazed, and InStyle Australia, with recommendations from Vogue Russia, Ann Friedman and Samantha Irby.

She also co-hosts the monthly podcast Mess World with Jessica DeFino and is the co-founder of the Lowbrow Book Club.

Emily previously served as a contributing editor at People magazine and Vanity Fair.

Her writing has appeared in New York magazine, Glamour, W, Vogue, the New York Times, and many more. It has also appeared in print for i-D, Elle, Nylon, Interview, the New York Post, and InStyle Australia.

Her essay “Why I Quit My Full-Time Writing Job over a Viral Tweet” has been taught at USC Annenberg and she’s been interviewed as an expert for stories in Elle, the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Cut, NRC, and The Washington Post.
